Quick and Easy Birthday Card for the Little League Player

So my intention to run full board with this SECOND blog has quite halted :)  Keeping up with two blogs is a bit more work than originally thought.  My other blog is for a specific company so I am purposely trying to keep that separate from my CraftyBetty world.

The first true blog topic that I was planning on putting here was my review of ALL the top paper crafting adhesives on the market, complete with video and all, but even though I typically have no problem making a bit of a spectacle of myself, I am having a hard time being "me" in front of a video camera.   Who would of thought????  So give me a little time to work up some courage to get in front of the camera, but until then it is time to at least do as I promised a month ago and start blogging about my OWN business so all of my wonderful customers will now have a source to go for inspiration once they buy those wonderful crafty essentials from my store.

Other BIG BIG news is that I am in the process of adding COPIC markers to my website!!  I can't believe it took me so long to discover such an amazing marker.  After all, I am that crafting addict that must have all the tools of the trade.  Well I ordered a set for myself a little over a month ago and after coloring my first project I KNEW I needed to stock them in my webstore.  Check www.craftybetty.net often, as I will get them added as soon as I find a spare moment (I do all my web maintenance myself, and while it saves a lot of money for the low-budget business, it does require a ton of my time.)

Well on to finally showing a project....

The cards I made below are for my husband's nephews.  They are twins who just turned 12 on Monday, and LOVE to play baseball on their little league team.....The Red Sox.  Well, first my husband fails to mention that there was a birthday party until about 3 hours before the party, then at 1 hour before the party he mentions that he had gotten them a video game for their birthday but we still needed cards.  The sensible person in my should have said, "Let's just stop on the way and get them cards." But... being "CraftyBetty" what would someone think if I showed up with a store bought card???

Well these were seriously made in less than 1 hour.

Supplies:

Paper:

  • American Crafts Primaries Pack Textured Cardstock (includes the Red, Navy, and Yellow, as well as other colors.)
  • American Crafts White Textured Cardstock (The card base is also white even though it is hard to see in the photo.)
Accessories:
  • Cricut
  • Gypsy
  • Baseball Cartridge
  • Blackletter Cartridge
  • Stamping Cartridge
All of the items used are currently available at www.craftybetty.net, except the Primaries Pack Cardstock, which I do have in stock, but not yet up on the website.  I also have the Cricut cartridges available but in a very limited quantity.

So are these Super Amazing cards.....No, but they are nice cards, and they were created in less than an hour including coming up with the idea (basing the design on their little league team), designing it the GYPSY (which to my surprise I fell in love with this thing in 10 minutes even though I thought I would hate it as much as Design Studio.), cutting with the Cricut and assembling.

The boys thought it was really cool that their cards were homemade....they said they thought they were store bought.  The especially liked that they were personalized with their initials.  I will have to work on the picture taking, because these look better in person (especially when you can see the white card base.)

Well that is all for now, but I will be keeping up with this blog more regularly now.

My next post is likely to either be a review of the Gypsy, since it far surpassed my expectations, or a intro to my HUGE adhesive trial.  I mean I went all out.  I got several different brands and types of glues, I got many different Glue Dots, and even rounded it out with Tape Runners, as I wanted to find the best go to adhesives for when you are on the go and don't want to lug around 10 different adhesives. While I did not find ONE that was the 100% solo winner, I have been able to narrow it down to being able to be happy with one glue and one tape runner that I will always keep in the traveling craft bag.  You will have to come back to see which ones won my heart :)
